Welcome to the World | Albany GA Birth Photography

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

I’ve been doing birth photography for several years now and it is one of my favorite life events to be a part of.  When we moved to SW Georgia, I noticed that birth photography is not as common and when I’ve told people that I offer these services I’ve had more than a few raised eyebrows – “you photograph WHAT?”  But I ask, Why WOULDN’T you want to photograph such a monumental day in your life?  Your child only has one first moment, one first breath, one first cry.

Here’s what other parents have said about me photographing the birth of their baby:

———————————-

“Once it came time for the doctors and nurses to start working, Tammi faded into the background.  I honestly don’t know how she got all the shots she did because I completely forgot she was there”

“When I approached my husband about having the birth photographed, his immediate thought was the cost (which is so like him).  As we watched the DVD after, he cried (which is so unlike him) and said ‘it was so worth every penny’.”

“Tammi was very discrete and non-invasive during the birth.  As I watched the DVD, I realized how many times i missed the fact that she took a picture because I was so unaware of her being in the room.  And yet she captured all the beautiful moments that I will treasure – the tears in my husband’s eyes, the smile on my face as we saw our little girl for the first time, and the first kiss on her sweet head”

“I initially expected some pictures of the birth, but what she gave us told a beautiful story.  She put together a “private” slideshow on the DVD, which was wonderfully graphic and absolutely beautiful but only appropriate to show to a select few.  The “public” slideshow was amazing and so tastefully done that we have shared it with various people – family, friends, even teachers at my daughter’s school”

“Pregnant women get so much advice from others…and my advice to them is easy: Document it in pictures.  You will never regret it”

——————————–

Last Wednesday I had the beautiful opportunity of photographing the birth of Megan & Stuart’s first baby, sweet little Sofia.  Being asked to be a part of something as intimate and life-changing as the birth of a baby is not a privilege I take lightly.  I truly feel humbled, grateful, and honored to have been part of such a special day and to have been invited to take part in documenting a baby’s first breath in this world, a couple’s first breath as parents.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Megan and Stuart for letting me be a part of your special day and congratulations on the birth of your beautiful daughter.

An Exciting New Product: A Photography Experience

————————

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. To me, a picture is worth a thousand memories; for when all is said and done, it is the memories that last with us forever.~ Jeffrey A. Goodman

———————-

6 years ago, my first son was born.  And in that moment when that tiny infant was laid in my arms and I joined the ranks of those called “mothers”… I knew.  I knew that it would go by quickly. I knew that he would change and grow an indiscernible bit every day.  I knew that I wanted to remember as much as I could.

And in that first year my hobby, my passion, my camera- came full face with my everyday life.  And I photographed everything.  Every tiny soft fingernail, every expression, every milestone.  And when I look at those pictures now, I don’t just see a chubby baby face or a first Halloween costume.  I smell baby shampoo in his hair and I recall his wet kisses and I hear the leaves crunch under our feet as we went trick or treating and I smile when I remember the tinkling sound of his first laugh.

Photography is not only an image.  It’s a memory.  It’s an experience.

And THAT is what I strive for in my sessions.  To create an experience, to help you remember.  Your images are NOT about the frilly dress or the new shoes or the faces scrubbed clean.  They’re about dirty hands and giggling children.  They’re about a high school senior on the brink of new life experiences.  They’re about the first days of two people in love.  They’re about laughter…moments…experiences.

I’m pleased to team up with videographer Chris Fenner and offer my clients a new photography experience.  Not JUST a photo shoot….but a video-photography experience to help you remember every detail as vividly as it was yesterday. When you walk away from our session, we’ll guarantee you’ll be tired, happy, and smile at the memories of our time together.

Many thanks to the Dismukes family for driving to Albany and meeting the three of us last weekend for this shoot.  We ALL enjoyed meeting you and your beautiful family!

And to the Dismukes and everyone else out there: I hope you like it.

A Birth Session

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

There are few things more life-changing, beautiful, and sacred than the birth of your child. Birth Sessions offer an intimate and precious memory of one of the most important days of your life and can be as “personal” (or not) as you would like. My goal when photographing a birth is to blend into the background and be as unobtrusive as possible – no flash photography is used and I strive to stay quiet and out of the way.

Birth Photography package includes:
*24-hour on-call availability during the last weeks of your pregnancy
*Up to 6 hours of coverage of the labor, delivery (if desired), and baby’s first moments after birth.
*A cd of images from the session
*A dvd of images, set to music, of your labor and delivery

2 versions of the slideshow will be presented on the DVD – a rated “PG” version, suitable for showing to family and friends, and an “R” version, a tasteful, yet intimate photo video for you and your partner to share.

What other people have said about their birth session:
“The beautiful pictures that you took and set to music on the DVD are PRICELESS! Everyone who watched had tears in their eyes!” -R

“What an awesome gift you have…words cannot express how grateful I am that God orchestrated Emma’s birth so that you could be here for before, during, and after pictures” -C

“Those shots were amazing! I didn’t even remember those little things happening, or the small details, but you were there to photograph them and you got everything! Thank you, thank you thank you!!” -C
