A Big Announcement…….

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

This has been a CUH-RAZY couple of weeks for us around here and it’s taken everything in me to keep everything under wraps.  I feel like my emotions tumble from one extreme to the other on a minute-by-minute basis, so it’s with a happy/sad/excited/overwhelmed heart that I tell you that The Nowack family is MOVING!

Moving

For those of you who don’t know, my husband is a school teacher at Deerfield Windsor School.  In a whirlwind of activity over the last several weeks, he interviewed and was offered a position at the fantastic premiere prep school, Rabun Gap Nacoochee School in the mountains of north Georgia.  This is an opportunity that we are so very excited to embark on.  A new city, excellent schooling for our boys, an opportunity for me to get back into coaching volleyball, a lifestyle that is more in line with our eco-nerdy, vegetarian philosophies….the list goes on.  We’ll be very sad to leave our friends and our “adopted” family that we’ve come to love here but we’re greatly anticipating this next chapter in our lives.

Obviously, this has ramifications for my current clients.  Unfortunately, considering that we will gone from Albany in ONE month (a period of time in which I will be gone for several weeks traveling) there are very, VERY few dates left open for my clients.  However, I WILL be returning to Albany in Sept. and again in November (Thanksgiving weekend) for weddings and I will happily be offering a day or two of sessions jam-packed into those weekends.  Clients waiting on proofs will not be affected  – although I may have to ship your orders long distance. I also have recommendations for several photographer-friends that I know will be more than happy and VERY lucky to take on any of my clients with immediate needs for photography – I truly do believe that I have the best clients in Albany and I will miss all of you immensely!!  Please email me at info@tamminowackphotography.com or call me at 229-669-8545 for information on the last remaining dates I have available for appointments (seriously, I only have like, FOUR) and my recommendations for other photographers in the area.

DON’T think that this blog is dead! I’ll be continuing to update it with current clients, weddings, and our family adventures as we settle in up in Rabun Gap.  DO be sure to keep checking in here, and on the Facebook page for updates, fun links, and the first announcements when I’m coming back to town! Also, be sure to sign up by tomorrow night for our Photography101 class offered THIS Saturday, June 19.  Only 4 seats left!

Thank you Albany for all of your support for the last 2 years!

Giveaway! Stewart & James

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

If you know me personally, you know I’m a vegetarian, earth-loving, recycling, re-purposing, organic, eco-NERD.  So you might not be surprised to know that when I came across the website of local blog-commenter Kristen and the business she’s started with her friend Arre,  I FELL.IN.LOVE.

Stewart & James is the company that they started together, & they are MASTER recyclers! They salvage old, damaged, & discarded bits of wood and make them into beautiful photo frames – classy, gorgeous, vintage, and sure to be an eye-catching piece in any room!  A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to meet the co-owner of Stewart & James, beautiful Kristen (who is just as sweet as can be) and we came up with a little collaboration, and YOU lucky readers are going to reap the benefits!! . :)

FIRST,  at the end of the week, we’ll be giving away one of these three Stewart & James’ photo frames!

Giveaway_3

Each frame holds a 4×6 photo.  I’ve taken the liberty of giving each one an incredible creative and witty name so that you can reference which one you like best when you enter to win.

Photography 101: A Class

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

I frequently have people email me and ask me if I would consider teaching them or working with them one-on-one to help them learn to take better photos.  Recently, I’ve had such a large number of inquiries, that I thought, “Why not just offer a one-day class or workshop and kill two…er…16 birds with one stone?” The very idea gives me hives because I don’t really consider myself a teacher, but I figure when it comes to knowledge and gifts you better use it or lose it, so I’ll pass on to you what I know if it will help you take better photos of your kids, family, gerbil, whatever.  :)

So I asked people on my Facebook Business Page if anyone in the area would be interested in a photography class and had several YES! responses.  Right now I’m looking at dates and a location to do the class, but I’m trying to get an idea of what exactly people are looking for in a photography learning experience.

If YOU are interested in taking a photography class then go ahead & Take our quick 5-question Online Survey so I can consider how best to tailor a class to suit your needs. :)

Thanks for your input!
Please feel free to leave any other thoughts, suggestions or ideas in the comments section!

Beach or Bust!!

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

Just a note to let everyone know I’ll be out of my office and unavailable until next week. We’re heading out for a much needed beach trip!

All emails and phone calls will be returned upon my arrival – if an emergency arises, Casey will be around to handle it. :)

And you KNOW I can’t stand to put up a post without a picture, so here’s a snapshot from our LAST trip to the beach.  The two studs on the outside are my boys – the middle stud is my nephew, Johnathan. :) Rest assured (or run in a panic) that I will inevitably have many, MANY photos to post when I get back. :)

Happy Easter!
